Rogers Media has announced the appointment of a new national sales executive.
The company announced today that Janice Smith will take over as vice-president of national media sales effective Dec. 1. Based in Toronto, Smith will be responsible for delivering against the company’s One Call sales strategy.
She will also determine the strategic direction for Rogers’ national sales team and its specialty sales team.
The appointment was made by Alan Dark, who succeeded Jack Tomik as senior vice-president of media sales on Nov. 3.
A 19-year media veteran with experience in sales, strategic planning and business development, Smith comes to Rogers from CBC, where she was most recently executive director of multiplatform sales for the CBC Revenue Group.
In that role, she oversaw all of the public broadcaster’s English language sales for CBC Television, CBC News Network, Radio 2 and sports. Her resume also includes stints with CanWest MediaWorks, TSN and The Discovery Channel.
She is an executive board member of the Television Bureau of Canada and the Broadcast Executives Society, as well as a member of Women in Film & Television.
