Postmedia Network is starting 2011 with a new vice-president, digital sales. The media company hired marketing and sales veteran Jennifer Sage to lead its newly streamlined digital sales team.

“Jennifer will play a key role in delivering on our digital first strategy, aligning print and digital sales teams and growing digital advertising revenues,” said Kirk Allen executive vice-president, Postmedia integrated advertising, in a release.

Postmedia Network includes the National Post, the Montreal Gazette, Ottawa Citizen, Regina Leader-Post, Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, Vancouver Sun, and more than 20 community newspapers in addition to online operations.

“I’m joining at a time when I hope I can be an active part of this transformation and help them take their business to that new level,” said Sage, whose focus moving forward is to build a strong sales team and help grow revenue with iPad and mobile products.

In the coming months she hopes to add at least four senior sales execs to the team.

Sage has more than two decades of sales and marketing experience, and arrives at Postmedia from Rogers Communications where she held senior positions in the company’s digital media and publishing practices for nearly six years.

She has also served as director, sales and interactive marketing at St. Joseph Media, and co-founded IDoIDo.com, which later became WeddingBells.ca.

Sage replaces Joe Strolz who was with Postmedia (then Canwest) for two years, before joining Microsoft Advertising last October.
