Television streaming service Shomi has announced that David Asch is its new senior vice-president and general manager.
Asch has over 16 years of experience in media and entertainment, and worked most recently as senior vice-president of content at Redbox Automated Retail, where he led content, development, licensing and acquisition activities for the American DVD rental company.
At Shomi, Asch will be responsible for day-to-day management, strategy and growth plans. He will help develop the streaming service’s content strategy as well as partnership and distribution opportunities.
“I look forward to building on Shomi’s early success and making the brand a must-see, must-have service,” Asch said in a press release.
“David has the business savvy and vision to steer the next phase of shomi and drive its growth and leadership position in the marketplace,” said Barbara Williams, executive vice president of broadcasting and president of Shaw Media (which operates Shomi in partnership with Rogers Communications).
