Bell Media has hired former GroupM Canada chief commercial officer Stuart Garvie to lead its national sales operations.
Garvie takes over from Mary Anne Turke, who became Bell Media president in April after Kevin Crull was forced out for influencing CTV’s coverage of the CRTC.
In a release, Turcke praised Garvie’s commitment to innovation and efficiency, calling him a “visionary.”
“It is with great pride that I join Canada’s premier media company,” said Garvie, in a statement. “I look forward to building on Bell Media’s industry leadership and implementing new strategies to consolidate our position as the #1 partner of national advertisers across Canada.”
As CCO of GroupM, WPP’s media buying arm and the largest media agency group globally by media dollars, Garvie oversaw $2 billion in Canadian advertising spend. Before that, he was deputy global trading director for Maxus, one of GroupM’s agencies, in London. He has also been media purchasing manager for Danone and Reckitt Benckiser in Europe.
Garvie will assume his new role June 8.
