The Rogers-owned women’s lifestyle website SweetSpot.ca has launched a companion site and newsletter called DailySqueeze.ca that focuses on health and wellness from a Canadian perspective.

Launched today, Daily Squeeze is geared towards women 25-45 who are interested in the latest tips and trends around health-related topics such as workouts, super-foods, eco-chic products, recipes and fitness gear.

Aurea Dempsey, general manager of Daily Squeeze, said the popularity of thee subject areas made it a natural extension for Sweet Spot.

While Daily Squeeze offers advice from a fitness trainer, a holistic nutritionist, a naturopath, a professional chef, a yogi and green-living expert, the site is more than just an information portal, said Dempsey. A lot of what the site covers has been tried and recommended by staff members.

The site also caters to a Canadian audience whose needs are largely unmet because most health and fitness magazines available in Canada are from the U.S., and therefore filled with American-based products, said Dempsey.

“Our mandate is bringing the best in health and wellness to that Canadian audience,” she said. “It’s exciting. Because there’s no other site like it, we know the audience is hungry for this information.”

Content is updated every day, shared in national newsletters twice a week and in a Toronto-focused newsletter sent out every Wednesday.

To encourage participation from its readers, the site will host workshops and events in the near future, Dempsey said. The site is also hosting a contest that gives readers a chance to win a trip for two to Hawaii.

Online ads posted on female-focused websites and blogs like Lainey Gossip and MarthaStweart.com promote the site, in addition to ads that have been placed in gyms across the Greater Toronto Area through the Zoom network.
