Canada’s leading transactional statement printer, Symcor, owned by three of the country’s largest financial institutions (TD, RBC and BMO) has announced that it will be adding a second high-speed Océ JetStream 1500 colour inkjet system this summer.
The company announced the installation of its first JetStream printer one year ago. According to a release distributed by Oce, the initial installation helped Symcor make the strategic shift from basic transaction and conventional monochrome printing to full colour variable output.
Symcor’s Toronto operation is adding the second system to meet capacity demands and to provide the redundancy required to protect its growing colour printing business.
“Océ was very supportive in understanding our business model, and this was critical for us,” said Normand Allard, director of product management at Symcor in the release.
According to Océ, the JetStream 1500 inkjet printing system supports monthly duty cycles of up to 40 million impressions.
“When we decided to buy the Océ equipment, our goal was to convert existing black-and-white applications into full-colour forms replacement applications. This helped customers reduce their carbon footprint and provided them with the opportunity to enhance the application with variable colour messaging to promote, educate and enhance the customer experience,” added Allard.
“For us, it is like getting two printers for one. We can leverage this technology to offer different solutions in both colour and black-and-white to our clients, while reducing costs and retiring legacy equipment within our fleet,” Allard said.
“We are excited to work with a transpromo leader like Symcor, who can maximize all the advantages of Océ JetStream technology. Bringing on a second Océ system so quickly demonstrates the pent-up demand for high-quality full-colour variable data communications in this market,” said Patrick D’Souza, president, Océ-Canada Inc.
