CBC Television has announced its plan to offer commercial-free programming on Christmas Day, with mobile phone retailer Tbooth Wireless set to sponsor the block of holiday-themed movies and shows.

The lineup airing between noon and 10 p.m. in all markets, includes a Christmas message from Queen Elizabeth II, as well as family entertainment such as Lassie, Miracle on 34th Street and Frosty Returns.

No commercials will be shown during the block, although the CBC will air promotional spots touting its own content between each program.

Tbooth’s sponsorship will be advertised through occasional brand messaging on the bottom third of the screen during programs, as well as through five-, 10- and 15-second bumper ads on Christmas Day and online creative.
