TC Media is trying to tickle the delights of gourmands with the launch of two new food-focused mobile apps: On the Table and its French equivalent Quoi Manger.

The apps’ content include recipes, shopping, food prep and meal planning tools, and even restaurant searches.

The apps, which are available in Apple’s iTunes App Store, soft-launched during the week of July 2 and officially launched July 10.

TC Media has been reaching out to food lovers for many years through its print and online publications such as Canadian Living, Coup de Pouce and Publisac.ca, which provide the recipes for the apps’ database.

“TC Media has a strong legacy in food… On the Table and Quoi Manger are really TC Media integrating these experiences into one great user experience,” said Andrea Kolber, digital product director for On the Table.

Wallaroo Wines signed up as the launch advertiser on Quoi Manger. On the Table has yet to find an advertising partner.

TC Media has been busy in the mobile app sphere recently, having just launched a mobile payment app for Stationnement de Montréal.

“We can definitely expect to see more [TC Media] app launches in the future,” said Katherine Chartrand, TC Media’s director of internal and external communications. “We’re always looking for opportunities to develop new products. We’re looking for mobile solutions for own brands, as well as for our clients.”

The two new foodie apps have been downloaded more than 8,000 times since their launch, and are an Editor’s Choice in the iTunes store.

Teehan + Lax did the front-end design of the apps.
