It’s lights, camera, content at TC Media as the media company has announced that it is launching its own TV production house.

The new division is set to open in June and will create content for multiple platforms, including TV channels, and mobile and internet media for on-demand delivery.

The move is part of TC’s strategy to develop its multimedia offering. “It means that the content produced can now be delivered on multiple platforms – print, television and digital – providing more effective communication between audiences and brands,” said TC Media president Natalie Larivière in a release.

She added that TC Media’s brands and business partners will benefit from greater visibility thanks to the production house. It will also, she said, “attract a larger audience and provide enriched content on new platforms that use the internet, mobile devices and social media.â€

Philippe Lapointe, senior vice-president of multiplatform development solutions, will lead TC Media’s production house. He has been assembling a team of cross-platform content development experts since last October. These include Jocelyne Morissette, the production house’s general manager of multiplatform media development, and Pierre Tremblay, general manager of multiplatform production.

Also announced Monday, Sylvia Côté has just started as general manager and executive producer. With a background in TV production, management and delivery, she has worked at companies including Ztélé and TVA Productions. At TC Media’s production shop, she will supervise operations and oversee the development of TV shows.

Catherine Lejeune will join the new division as development director on May 1. She brings more than two decades of television experience, including directing programming at Télé-Québec.

Commenting on the appointments, Lapointe said, “Their presence signals our aim of quickly bringing TC Media to prominence as a company that produces top-quality TV content.”
