TC Media has a new leader.

Effective immediately, Ted Markle is president of TC Media, the media division of TC Transcontinental. François Olivier, TC Transcontinental president and chief executive officer, had been acting in the role since June 2012.

The role had been vacated by Natalie Larivière; she left the company to pursue “new professional challenges.”

Most recently, Markle was senior vice-president, content solutions at TC Media.

Markle started at TC Transcontinental in 1999, and Olivier said in a release that Markle “knows our organization inside out.”

A large part of Markle’s past responsibilities in the company involved forming strategic partnerships with North American publishers. In his first years with the company, he led strategic development, managed the amalgamation of several acquisitions and built up a shared production centre for magazines as vice-president of planning, production and information technology.

TC Media works in digital and print media, publishing magazines, books, newspapers and custom content. It also launched a TV production house last year.

It also underwent a rebrand that involved a switch from the name Transcontinental Media to TC Media, and expanded its mobile apps offering.
