Marketing’s list of Canada’s Top Media Players for 2008 truly does go from A to Z. It also spans the media spectrum, incorporating organizations specializing in traditional media such as out-of-home, newspapers and broadcast, to those operating in the digital realm.
“Each of these organizations embodies the innovation taking place in the Canadian media industry,” said Chris Powell, Marketing’s media editor. “Some are on the list because they have dramatically expanded or bolstered their product offering, and others because they have shown a willingness to work with their advertising partners on developing one-of-a-kind marketing solutions.”
The 10 organizations announced today remain in the running to be named Media Player of the Year. They are:
Astral Media
Canwest
CBC
The Globe and Mail
MZ Media
Rogers Media
Score Media
Transcontinental Media
Yellow Pages Group
Zoom Media
The media players were chosen by Marketing’s editorial team using three broad criteria of marketplace innovation, brand performance and financial clout, and category leadership. This year, Marketing opened up the nomination process for the first time to a select group of industry experts to share their thoughts and opinions on which media players deserved consideration.
Canada’s Top Media Players will be profiled in the Nov. 24 issue of Marketing, along with profiles of Canada’s Top Agencies (announced Tuesday, click here) and Canada’s Top Marketers (announced Wednesday, click here).
The Agency of the Year, Marketer of the Year and Media Player of the Year will be named at the annual Marque Awards gala in Toronto Nov. 26 and profiled in the Dec. 8 issue of the magazine, available Dec. 1.
