TLN adds Spanish to annual HNIC telecast

TLN is adding a Spanish-language component to its four-year association with Hockey Night in Canada.

Expanding its annual partnership with CBC’s flagship property, TLN will show an Italian-language broadcast of this Saturday’s 11th annual “Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada” showdown between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, while its sister Spanish-language station TLN en Español will provide Spanish play-by-play.

The two services are available in an estimated six million Canadian homes.

“Through this special broadcast, Hockey Night in Canada’s traditional sponsors and advertisers will hopefully ignite a connection with our communities, in their language, on their channels, in their environment,” said TLN spokesperson Bruna Aloe.

Noting that there are more than one million Spanish speakers in Canada, Aloe said that it is a fast growing group that advertisers are going to pay “a great deal of attention” to in the future.
