In an ever-growing digital age, is it all surprising that almost half of Canadians would rather pitch their TV’s than their computers? A new survey by Primus Canada shows just how much Canadians value the internet and their phones over TV.
Survey by: The Angus Reid Forum on behalf of Primus Canada
Methodology: In May, an online survey was conducted among a randomly selected, representative sample of 1,009 Canadian adults who are Angus Reid Forum panel members.
Key findings:
•46% of Canadians would rather give up TV than the internet or their phone
•That percentage rises to 67% in the 18-34 co-hort and drops to 35% for those 55 and older
•British Columbians (61%) and Albertans (58%) were most likely to give up TV over internet access or their phone
•Men apparently love TV more than women, with 41% of males saying they’d give up TV compared to 50% of females
•52% of Canadians earning over $100,000 per year would forego television before giving up their phone or internet access, 12% would give up the internet to watch TV
•54% of post-university respondents would prefer to give up TV rather than the phone or internet, compared to 13% who would rather give up internet access
