A new study from Television Bureau of Canada (TVB) finds that Canadian adults prefer to watch television the old fashioned way – on TV – rather than on a computer or mobile screen.

Survey by: Television Bureau of Canada, BBM Analytics
Methodology: “A minimum of 1,000 interviews”

Key findings:
• When asked where they would prefer to watch their favourite programs, 93.5% of respondents 18-49 said on a television screen, 4.4% on a computer screen and 0.1% on a mobile device

• 70% said watching video content on desktop or mobile screens could not replace viewing on a television set

• 40-50% of people surveyed under the age of 55 use the internet while simultaneously watching television and say they pay attention to both alternatively

• More than half of those surveyed under the age of 55 have gone online in response to something they saw in a television commercial

• Canadian adults 18+ spend an average of 29.4 hours per week with the television compared to 10.1 hours with the internet
