Transcontinental has acquired a 14,000 circulation weekly newspaper in eastern Quebec.

Transcontinental has acquired a 14,000 circulation weekly newspaper in eastern Quebec.

The Journal Nouvelles Hebdo, is delivered to homes in the Dolbeau-Mistassini region of the province, on Lac Saint-Jean, about 126 kilometres northeast of Chicoutimi, Que.

The newspaper was founded by Les Editions Nordiques. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Montreal-based printing and publishing company Transcontinental now owns four newspapers in the region.

Transcontinental has 10,500 employees in Canada, the United States and Mexico and operates commercial printers, newspapers and other businesses.
