Media Experts‘ Karel Wegert has been promoted to vice-president of digital operations after six years with the company. Wegert will spearhead Media Experts’ digital division, where he previously developed digital strategies for clients such as BMW Canada and Mini Canada.

Wegert joined the agency when the digital department—which now has 30 staff—started, and Media Experts’ founder and CEO Mark Sherman credited him for playing a pivotal role in building it from the inside out in a release.

“This appointment reflects his excellent team work, solid leadership and his passion for developing advanced solutions for our customers,” Sherman said.

“He has an exceptional ability to explain complex ad technology and how it affects business outcomes,” he added.

Wegert first came to the agency in 2007 from CESART (now Bell Web Solutions) where he consulted on search engine marketing. In 2001, he co-founded TWM Performance, an online auto parts retailer, where he worked on online marketing campaigns, SEO and e-commerce.

Independent media services agency Media Experts recently announced a major contract with Australia-based jeweler Michael Hill.
