Experiential Gold Nissan 2

Who had the most innovative video idea in 2014?

You’ll find out at the MIAs Nov. 27, but get a look at some of the contenders today

Let’s call it a media innovation appetizer — a look at the six submissions shortlisted in the Best in Video category for the 2014 MIAs, the biggest night in Canadian media which is less than two weeks away.

At the 15th annual Media Innovation Awards in Toronto, the best and the brightest will gather to find out which of the biggest and bravest media ideas from the last year will take home the hardware and — most importantly of all — be named the Best of Show.

Last year it was the powerful “Surrender Your Say” by Saatchi & Saatchi for the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada. “Surrender Your Say” gave anyone on Twitter a new understanding of what it means to live with Tourette syndrome.

In 2012 it was OMD’s “Innovation that Excites—Altima Launch” multifaceted campaign for Nissan, which included a true innovation in outdoor advertising with a water projection that wowed the judges.

What will it be this year? The winner will of course also be a gold winner in one of the 33 categories judged by a panel of 14 leading marketing and media executives from across the country.

To provide a better sense of the competition, beginning today we’ll give you a more complete look at some of the work in contention for MIAs glory with the case videos that made the shortlist in a few of the categories — an honour in itself since this is the work that received the highest scores from the jury in the preliminary round of online judging.

We start with Best in Video and the six submissions shortlisted in the category for the 2014 Media Innovation Awards.
