Yellow Media Group says its long-time CEO will be leaving by this summer but will remain to assist with a transition period.

The Montreal-based publishing company says it’s looking for a replacement for Marc Tellier, who has been president and chief executive of Yellow and its predecessors since October 2001.

The company – a former subsidiary of the company that owns Bell Canada – was spun off as an independent publisher of phone listings and advertising directories

Under Tellier’s leadership, it has undergone fundamental changes since then as it coped with a long-term consumer and advertiser shift to online information.

Yellow says Tellier has agreed to to assist during the transition but he’ll leave no later than Aug. 15.

“We intend to look to Marc for his input and guidance during the upcoming transitional process,” said Yellow board chairman Robert MacLellan, who will also chair the committee assigned to find a successor.

“We look forward to appointing a new Chief Executive Officer who can continue the ongoing transformation of YPG into a leading digital advertising and marketing solutions company.”

Tellier said it has been an honour to lead the group.

“As a result of the recapitalization which was implemented in December 2012, I believe Yellow Pages Group is now well-positioned to successfully continue its digital transformation,” Tellier said.
