Sonia Carreno has been made vice-president and head of the search and performance marketing company Performics Canada. Media services network ZenithOptimedia, which owns Performics, made the announcement Monday.
The immediate appointment will see Carreno lead the management and growth of Performics across Canada, and develop and maintain strong links between the search business and overall ZenithOptimedia media strategy for shared clients.
“Search is one of the pillars of the ZenithOptimedia Live ROI platform, so we are pleased to have such a strong leader in place,” says Frank Friedman, CEO at ZenithOptimedia, in a release.
Carreno has enjoyed a 15-year career in marketing, serving as director of brand activation strategy at BBDO Proximity Worldwide before she joined ZenithOptimedia. She has held leadership roles at Capital C Communications, Passage Communications, DAC Group Digital and Modem Media.
“I’ve always had a passion for the media side and I’m excited to be joining Performics, who has set the bar on Performance Driven Marketing,” says Carreno in the same release. “I’m looking forward to working with a brilliant team to continue growing strong partnerships and delivering value to our clients at every touch point.”
“Sonia is the perfect fit for this role,” says Friedman. “Her creative agency experience will enhance our holistic collaborations with our partners, driving our client business forward.”
Carreno will report directly to Veronica Holmes, ZenithOptimedia’s president of digital. “We are thrilled to have Sonia join our team,” says Holmes. “Her skills and experience are a great asset for Performics.”
Performics specializes in search and performance marketing for owned, paid and earned media. The firm delivered more than $1 billion in retail sales and generated more than 100M actions for brands and marketers in 2011.
