Who says senior executive announcements don’t happen over the summer? Blasting that notion away, Zoom Media Canada has just announced it has a new president and chief operating officer.
Cathy Fernandes, who brings about two decades of media experience to the role, was most recently VP, sales and marketing and GM at Rogers Media’s BV! Media. Prior to that, she was VP, national sales at Quebecor Media. She will be based in Toronto in her new role.
(Fernandes also worked at Marketing for seven years, leaving in 2006 as associate publisher, sales.)
Fernandes fills the position left open by Andy Querin, who worked with Zoom Media from 2002 until last year. He started as managing director, Ontario and Western Canada, then held the VP, sales position, and subsequently was the company’s president at COO. Querin is currently president and COO at KB Media.
François de Gaspé Beaubien, chairman and chief coaching officer at Zoom Media, told Marketing, “Cathy has the talent, expertise and experience to bring Zoom to our next level. We are bringing our digital “sight, sound and motion” product to Canada–full motion video with sound.” This, said de Gaspé Beaubien, will entail offering a new suite of solutions to agencies and advertisers. “Given that Cathy has lead video teams, both online and in television, she is uniquely well-positioned to oversee our expanding digital offerings,” he said.
Zoom Media, for example, is expanding its digital offering into GoodLife Fitness Centres across Canada within the next few weeks. De Gaspé Beaubien said Zoom intends to have well over 100 venues installed in the next few months and to scale upwards from there.
Zoom Media Group owns and operates more than 80,000 billboards across North America and Europe. More than 26,000 of those are digital.
