Toronto’s ZoomerMedia has hired veteran radio sales executive Byron Garby as its vice-president of radio sales, responsible for national and local sales for its four stations: The New Classical FM 96.3, 102.9, 103.1 and AM740 ZoomerRadio.
Garby has worked with several radio groups, most recently as general manager and general sales manager for the Bell Media, which owns dozens of stations across Canada. His career also includes stints with Milestone Radio, Standard Broadcasting and Telemedia Communications.
“Byron is a seasoned sales professional who has a track record for exceeding objectives,” said Dan Hamilton, VP of sales, broadcast and general manager, radio at ZoomerMedia, in a release. “He’s a great addition to the team.”
According to ZoomerMedia, The New Classical FM saw its best results last fall since the 2009 introduction of the PPM measurement system. The station now reaches more than one million 2+ listeners per week according to Numeris ratings for Sept. 30 to Nov. 30, while AM740’s weekly reach is up 17% over the corresponding year-earlier period.
