Online social game developer Zynga has acquired Toronto-based Five Mobile, whose founders will join the company that produces CityVille, Mafia Wars and other titles for Facebook and other platforms.
The renamed Zynga Toronto will be headed by Five Mobile co-founder Ameet Shah. In addition to Shah, Five Mobile’s Jeff Zakrzewski, Oliver Tabay, and Troy Hubman will all join the Zynga team of about 2,000 employees.
Zynga announced the acquisition on its blog Friday. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
According to documents filed last week with U.S. securities regulators, as part of plans for an initial public offering, Zynga reported it had US$597 million of revenue last year and US$90.6 million of net income.
