Advertising veteran Chad Borlase has taken on the role of creative director officer at Kolody Inc., a digital creative agency in Toronto.
Borlase was most recently a co-creative director at Bos, where he spent over six years working on brands such as Fido, HomeSense, SmartSet and Honda, before leaving in early January.
Borlase, a native South African, decided it was time for a change when he left Bos last winter, but had no immediate plans or a new job in place. “Nothing like leaving to get you motivated, let’s put it that way,” he said with a laugh.
“Kolody found me actually and, through the wonderful world of digital, noticed that I’d resigned and contacted me and said let’s start chatting,” said Borlase, who emphasizes the importance of including digital in a client’s communication mix.
Thanks to his experience at Bos and other agencies such as MacLaren McCann and Publicis, Borlase said he’s able to bring strategic insight to the table, which “hasn’t been the forefront of the digital push up until now.
“People have been making very nice shiny boxes, but not a lot of strategic thought has been put into things over the years,” he said.
Borlase is also judging the FITC awards in 2011 and is on the board of directors for the Advertising & Design Club of Canada.
“Chad brings a wealth of multi-channel experience to compliment our digital pedigree, which is essential to thrive in the fundamentally convergent realm of communications,” said Kolody partner Colin Turnbull, in a release.
