The Portuguese Cork Association has selected DDB Canada as its North American agency of record for an integrated marketing campaign that launches next month and promotes the usage of cork floor covering as “eco-chic.”

Sharon Hayward, account manager at DDB Public Relations said the decision was based on written submissions and a series of teleconference meetings, during which the agency presented its strengths and knowledge of the market.

DDB Canada was among 10 agencies invited to participate in the North American-held review. DDB Public Relations will work with Porter Novelli (another Omnicom-owned agency,) on U.S.-based PR efforts, said Hayward.

“We were impressed by DDB Canada’s creative business problem-solving skills and experience, as well as the results generated for their other clients,” said Piet Dossche, chairman of the North American Portuguese Cork Association (APCOR) group, in a release.

“They showed a unique insight into our business problem and the fact that they have offices throughout North America and strong PR credentials was key to DDB being awarded the account,” said Dossche.

The campaign will include public relations, social media, on-and-offline retail training, digital and trade advertising to help boost cork flooring sales in North America.
