Isabelle Hudon has left Montreal-based Marketel, following an 18-month stint as president. The decision, made two months ago, is the result of a mutual agreement, according to CEO Jacques Duval.

“Her expertise was mainly in corporate communications, a few degrees away from what we do every day. We allotted ourselves the time needed for her to transition [to marketing and communications], but she was rather unhappy,” Duval told Marketing QC.

“She was more interested in public affairs. I like it when people are as happy as possible. The development contracts she got for the agency were mostly in public affairs,” he said. Duval expects this step will allow her to return to what she enjoys.

“We are not looking to replace her at Marketel at this time, considering the position was created for her,” added Duval. “She left without tears or recriminations, and I continue to believe that she is a gem.”

The current structure will be maintained, with the same CEO and Conrad Gagnon serving as COO.

Though she declined requests for an interview, Hudon stated through her publicist that Duval’s statements were “true and accurate.”

Hudon chairs the board of directors of the new Collectif des festivals montréalais (Association of Montreal Festivals). In an interview with Radio-Canada earlier this week, in which she confirmed her departure from Marketel, Hudon said she will devote her summer to learning all she can about the festivals involved.
