Paul Lavoie, chairman and co-founder of landmark Canadian agency Taxi, received the Les Usherwood Lifetime Achievement Award from the Advertising & Design Club of Canada (ADCC) Thursday night.
The award was presented to Lavoie at the association’s 2013 Directions Awards by fellow Taxi founding partner Jane Hope.
“Paul has received awards for his advertising and design work separately for decades,” Hope said. “This award celebrates the fusion of creative skill that he masters and is at the heart of Taxi’s vision.”
Lavoie co-founded the agency in Montréal in 1992. As a creative director, Lavoie is best known for the iconic pizza logo for McDonald’s as well as award-winning work on Viagra, Mini, and Telus’s “The Future is Friendly” brand campaign.
The Les Usherwood Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded annually to an individual who has made a major contribution to the Canadian creative community.
Lavoie joins a list of past winners that includes writer and director Terry O’Reilly, writer Allan Kazmer, illustrator Anita Kunz and designer Diti Katona.
