A week after announcing that it is now the agency of record for Molson Coors Canada’s Canadian and Rickards brands, Rethink has made a pair of senior management appointments at its Toronto office.
Pema Hegan, who oversaw the opening of Rethink’s Toronto office in April 2010, has been promoted to national director of strategy, responsible for the agency’s strategic direction in both Toronto and its home base of Vancouver.
Hegan was previously an account director with Rethink from January to December 2004, when he left to become the founding editor-in-chief of Toronto youth focused daily Dose.
He rejoined Rethink last year after founding a company called GigPark, which helped consumers find trusted local businesses such as lawyers and contractors based on friends’ recommendations.
Local search firm Canpages acquired GigPark in 2009 and Hegan spent the next eight months integrating the platform into Canpages.
Rethink has also promoted group account director Caleb Goodman to managing director of its Toronto office. In his new role, Goodman will oversee office operations and head up account services. He will put a “real stamp” on the 19-month-old Toronto office, said Rethink founding partner Chris Staples.
Goodman joined Rethink in April after spending more than seven years with Taxi Canada. Prior to joining Taxi, Goodman was an account executive at Y&R.
Rethink currently employs about 30 people in its Toronto office, which is expected to see significant growth following the win of the Molson Coors assignment (the biggest new business win in the agency’s history).
