Zulu Alpha Kilo has added two new creative leaders to its Toronto office.
Award-winning creative director and writer Jon Webber has joined the Toronto shop after spending the past five years at Proximity, where he worked on interactive and creative campaigns for such accounts as the Canadian Olympic Committee and M&Ms. Prior to that, Webber worked at Tribal DDB and Cossette Interactive on a broad range of accounts.
Zulu has also hired David Adams as its new design director. Adams’ experience includes work at Karacters Design Group, Soapox and Grip Limited.
The agency has 50 full-time staffers and, with the new hires, five creative directors. Zak Mroueh, Zulu’s president and executive creative director, said bolstering the CD count is the result of the agency’s rapid growth and anticipated future growth.
“Our creative directors oversee accounts, but they’re also hands-on in terms of actually doing the work,” Mroueh said. “Our high number of creative directors is deliberate and sets us up for future growth, as well as fulfilling current needs.”
Zulu doesn’t use fixed creative teams; Mroueh said the entire staff is “one creative group” that customizes teams according to clients’ needs.
“I really wanted creative to come first. When people ask me why I have so many creative directors, I respond, ‘If you were a great restaurant, wouldn’t you want to have many great chefs?’”
