Cereal and toilet paper, cellphones, oil changes and bullfrogs (well, sort of) have all made Marketing’s Canada’s Top Marketers list for 2008.
“Whether they’re small brands taking on multinational giants, or multinational giants redefining themselves in a changing world, these 10 organizations demonstrated a unique understanding of their market and their place within it this year,” said Paul Ferriss, Marketing’s executive editor.
The 10 organizations announced today remain in the running to be named Marketer of the Year. They are:
Bullfrog Power
Kraft Canada
Kruger Products
Mr. Lube
Rogers Communications
Subaru Canada
Telus
Unilever Canada
WWF Canada
WestJet
“In some cases these marketers made the Top 10 because of their willingness to deploy bold, breakthrough advertising, while for others it had almost nothing to do with their advertising,” said Ferriss. “They made the list by building their brands through product innovation, customer service and communications that go well beyond traditional advertising.”
The list was chosen by Marketing’s editorial team using three broad criteria of marketplace innovation, brand performance and financial clout, and category leadership. New to the process this year, Marketing called on a select group of industry experts to share their thoughts and opinions on what marketers were worthy of consideration for Canada’s Top Marketer and the Marketer of the Year.
Canada’s Top Marketers will be profiled in the Nov. 24 issue of Marketing, along with profiles of Canada’s Top Agencies (announced yesterday, click here) and Canada’s Top Media Players, which will be revealed in Marketing Daily on Thursday morning.
The Agency of the Year, Marketer of the Year and Media Player of the Year will be named at the annual Marque Awards gala in Toronto Nov. 26 and profiled in the Dec. 8 issue of the magazine, available Dec. 1.
