T&T Supermarket is expanding with a new store at the Park Royal Shopping Centre in West Vancouver that will operate under the Osaka banner.
Sandra Creighton, marketing manager of the Richmond, B.C.-based company, which has 18 stores in B.C, Alberta and Ontario, said the store is the second to go under the Osaka banner; the other is in Richmond, B.C.
“Osaka will have more Japanese merchandize than other T&T stores,” said Creighton, adding that the store will open in September. “T&T is an Asian specialty store and we see ourselves as a cultural hub to bring Asian foods to the community in Canada.”
Creighton said that while the supermarket chain’s core customers are Asians, they are seeing a growth in mainstream customers.
“The addition of this store will bring in a new group of customers from a broader market area to discover our shopping centre,” said Rick Amantea, vice-president of Park Royal in a news release. T&T was sold to Loblaw last July for $225 million.
