The Canadian Press has teamed up with U.S.-based advertising technology company Extreme Reach Inc. to provide a Canadian digital television and radio ad distribution service.

Canada’s national news agency and Extreme Reach of Needham, Mass. said late Friday they have launched Extreme Reach Canada.

They said the new company will provide services to help ad agencies and commercial production houses digitally distribute radio and television ads, including high definition TV commercials, to broadcasters across Canada and the United States.

Financial terms of the partnership were not revealed.

The new ad network partnership is part of the commercial services business of the Toronto-based news agency, which provides English and French news stories, photos, graphics, audio and online video to daily newspapers, broadcasters, websites and commercial clients.

Canadian Press has been providing similar services through Texas-based DG FastChannel. Extreme Reach Canada officially opens for business upon the completion of CP’s contract with FastChannel at the end of February.

According to Terry Scott, director of broadcasting for Canadian Press, the service currently delivers spots to approximately 200 over-the-air or specialty television stations and more than 680 radio stations across English and French Canada.
