Free daily newspaper Metro is getting a six-pack… of new markets starting early next month.

Both Saskatoon Metro and Regina Metro are launching with print, online and mobile versions. Digital-only editions will be available for Victoria, B.C. as well as Hamilton, Kitchener and Windsor, Ont.

According to NADbank 2010 data, these four cities rank in the top 15 markets for smartphone users 18‐49 (Metro‘s key demographic).

“It is exciting to see the demand for Metro continue to grow with both our readers and advertising partners,” said Bill McDonald, president, Metro English Canada, in a release.

“Our goal is to continuously improve and enhance our brand in an effort to reach the important target market of youthful, active metropolitans in every major city across Canada,” he said. “Metro’s expansion and digital enhancements are the natural next steps in this evolution.”

Saskatoon Metro and Regina Metro will be available through newspaper boxes and on-street promoters at high-traffic areas in each city. The projected daily circulation for these publications is 20,000 copies in each market.
