Just one month shy of its first anniversary, Say Media has acquired Remodelista, an online interior design sourcebook that targets homeowners and design enthusiasts.

The move helps the Montreal-based digital media company strengthen its portfolio of “passion-based” consumer interest sites, which already includes titles under the home, food, tech, style and pets pillars.

Remodelista is well-known within the design community and has been featured in numerous publications such as Elle Décor, Domino Magazine, Home Magazine, Elle and the New York Times. Say Media said it will continue to evolve the site’s design and navigation.

“The internet has enabled sites like Remodelista to become a new source of inspiration for a desirable demographic looking to create thoughtful living spaces,” said Troy Young, president, Say Media, in a release.

“This is a very attractive audience for marketers – from large automotive and CPG brands to smaller, home improvement retailers,” said Young.

Say has been on a steady trajectory since September 2010 when it formed in the merger between social media developer Six Apart and VideoEgg.

Remodelista marks Say Media’s third acquisition in the last six months. The company purchased dog-themed social networking site Dogster in April and digital agency Sideshow in June.
