Be honest, be direct and don’t get between a kid and his content.
Shane Smith, co-founder of Vice Media, offered this advice to a packed house at Marketing‘s Young Influencers Conference on Feb. 23 as a veteran of the media revolution. Smith presented his advice on getting attention from a generation born online and immune to the lingering influences of 20th century thinking in advertising.
According to Smith, it starts with who you hire (i.e. young people) and ends when companies decide how their branding lives alongside (or, heaven forbid, over top of) the content it sponsors.
