Ad blockers get hobbled by new Facebook functionality
Facebook is trying to make it tougher for ad-blocking software to detect and weed out Sponsored Posts from its users’ newsfeeds. This may anger those who don’t like seeing ads on the social service, but in return, Facebook is offering its users greater control over who targets them.

Ad Block Plus now works on Edge
AdBlock Plus, the biggest and noisiest advocate for ad blockers in the world, hadn’t been able to get its service running on Edge, Microsoft’s latest web browser and the default browser for Windows operating systems. However, with the gradual roll-out of Windows 10 Anniversary Edition, the app’s extensions are now workable on the platform.

Axel Springer hates ad blockers, invests in one anyway
The European publishing company that runs eMarketer and Business Insider has been battling Eyeo (AdBlock Plus’ parent) for a while. After it banned APB’s users from its popular Bild site, it won a legal battle arguing it shouldn’t have to pay to be on the ad blocker’s whitelist (publishers can pay to have AdBlock Plus allow their adds to run, provided they meet certain standards). However, Axel Springer has just invested in the security provider Zenguard that, among other things, offers an ad blocking product.
