The Association of Quebec Advertising Agencies (AAPQ) has formed a new committee made up exclusively of marketing professionals under the age of 35. Its goal: bring a breath of fresh air to the organization.

“Our board of directors was looking for a way to involve the younger generation to inject new ideas, bring a fresh vision that would complement the board’s,” said Dominique Villeneuve, the association’s general manager. “Most of our board is composed of executives and presidents, so we wanted to include young people in order to have a direct channel to them.”

Villeneuve said the Youth Committee isn’t a replica of the organization’s board “which keeps 100 % of its role.” She called it a “think tank” that will address a handful of marketing issues.

AAPQ called for committee applications last November and got 21 responses. Criteria such as motivation, experience and leadership were then used to select the seven people who now form the Youth Committee: Alexis Robin from LG2, Stéphanie Pellicer from Palm + Havas, Issam Heddad from TP1, Jean-Hugo Fillion from Cossette, Pablo Stevenson from Ressac, David Proulx from Oui Marketing and Louis-Philippe Charland from Carat.

Members have a mandate of 1 or 2 years, depending on their age, and must leave the committee when they reach 35 years of age.

The Youth Committee was set to have its first meeting Tuesday morning. Jacques-Hervé Roubert, Nurun’s CEO and an AAPQ board member, will lead the new committee, which will also be represented at the board of directors meetings.
