There’s a new creative director at KBS+ Toronto.

Ian Mackenzie joins the agency from Tribal DDB where he served as an associate creative director for a year and half. At Tribal DDB, Mackenzie was the senior copywriter on McDonald’s mega successful “Our Food. Your Questions.” campaign and the creative co-lead on the Canadian Tire account.

Mackenzie also worked as a copywriter at Grip and worked in marketing roles at two independent theatre companies, The Room and Praxis Theatre.

At KBS+, Mackenzie will work on Target, Bank of Montreal and Church and Dwight, according to the agency.

Mackenzie is one of a series of major hires that have been made at KBS+ since the start of 2014. Matt Hassell took over as CCO in January, Marketa Krivy was brought on as CD in Toronto and Sacha Ouimet was made executive CD in the Montreal office.

“At our core, KBS+ believes in both doing things that matter and true inventiveness in marketing. Ian’s history of award-winning work embodies both those virtues. I am very happy to welcome him aboard,” Hassell told Marketing.

Since taking over as CCO Hassell has also hired copywriters Nimo Awil (previously Juniper Park) and Darren Marranca (previously Innocean Worldwide Canada).

Art directors Pepe Bratanov (previously Cossette) and Adam Tuck (previously Innocean Worldwide Canada) also recently joined the agency.
