Contempo Media Inc. is gearing up to publish Audi Canada’s new bi-annual lifestyle magazine, set to launch this spring.

The magazine was previously published in the U.S. and contained “North American content,” said Karsten Ruwoldt, director of marketing and product management for Audi Canada. But to serve as a communication piece aimed at Canadian consumers, the magazine will now contain 40-60% Canadian content, and will cover lifestyle, travel, architecture, design and sports.

“The whole idea is to have a magazine that fits our brand, so we will talk about things that interest typical Audi consumers,” said Ruwoldt.

The Toronto-based publisher, which also publishes the men’s lifestyle magazine Sharp, was selected to handle editorial content because of its ability to “create high-level unique Canadian lifestyle content,” said Ruwoldt.

“Contempo has a small team of dedicated professionals that want to bring the brand forward,” he said.

Contempo will also handle ad sales, and though Ruwoldt wouldn’t name any advertisers, he said they would include “lifestyle luxury oriented brands that fit into the Audi world.”

The magazine will be distributed in English and French to more than 20,000 Canadian Audi owners at home, and through dealerships and exclusive Audi events.

“This is a great opportunity to work with an incredibly focused and well established brand,” Contempo’s publisher, John McGouran, said in a release. “The opportunity for other premium brands to gain exposure to Audi customers is resonating strongly with many of our existing partners.”
