Hornitos Tequila has unveiled its new bottle design and newly developed global brand image, which promises to “awaken your senses.”

Market research found that consumers were not identifying the brand as a high-quality tequila, so Hornitos decided to “clean-up” its packaging and give the brand a “premium product look,” said Franco Timpano, senior brand manager at Maxxium Canada, which markets and distributes Hornitos in Canada. “We wanted the bottle to be reflective of the Tequila inside,” he said.

The new bottle, designed by Chicago-based design firm Akimbo, has a new pentagonal shape with a label that reads “Hornitos” and “100% puro de agave.” Tequila is made from the agave plant.

Maxxium is supporting the new design throughout the summer with product samplings, PR and guerrilla marketing events organized by LexPR Canada.

To help launch the new bottle, Hornitos featured pop n’ lock dancers in downtown Vancouver yesterday, who showed passersby what “awakening the senses” really means.

Hornitos tequila is only available in bars and restaurants in Ontario and at local liquor stores as well as bars and restaurants in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Nova Scotia.
