Scotties is putting consumers in the design seat, letting them create their own tissue box through its online Scotties’ Design Challenge.

The Kruger brand has been positioning its tissue boxes as a part of home décor and decided to take it one step further by involving consumers in the design process, said Patricia Eadie, operational manager, Solutions with Impact, the agency responsible for the promotion.

Consumers can create the next Scotties box with online tools at Scotties.ca, or upload an existing design, for a chance to win a $25,000 room makeover by celebrity designer Kimberley Seldon or one of five designer chairs.

Participants have until June 30 to enter. So far, over 19,000 designs have been submitted, said Eadie.

Representatives from Kruger, Solutions with Impact and John St. (Scotties creative agency of record) will narrow the submissions to 100 designs.

Consumers will then have from Aug. 1 to 22 to vote for their favourite design.

To get inspired, consumers can check out designs created by Canadian celebrities like Chantal Kreviazuk, Carla Collins and Michael “Pinball” Clemons. A full-page ad, created by John St. is running in design magazines across the country. The design with the most votes will be produced and sold in stores nationwide.

Contest details are featured on specially marked packages of multi Scotties’ six and nine packs.
