IKEA Canada has added new features to its mobile app to take it from a mobile product catalog to an in-store shopping assistant.
The app still has access to IKEA’s full product catalog, as well as information about its various products and stock availability at local stores, but now it’s added a virtual shopping list feature for customers that want to plan out their IKEA trips and check off items as they pick them up. As before, searching a product in the app or adding it to a shopping list will show its location within the store.
IKEA has also added a barcode scanning feature, similar to that found on Indigo or Amazon apps. The tech allows customers to scan a pricetag they see in-store to pull up additional information about the product or add it to a wishlist.
“Our ambition is to be more accessible to our customers and to tailor each shopping experience to meet their individual needs,” said Stefan Sjöstrand, president, IKEA Canada, in a statement. “Smartphones are now the go-to source for information for many of our customers and the new IKEA Store App is designed to make the shopping experience even more seamless in a way that is most convenient for them.”
Customers will be able to use the app in-store via free wifi that’s available in all of IKEA’s Canadian locations.
