McKim Cringan George (MCG) struck the right chord with The Winnipeg Folk Festival.

The not-for-profit has hired the Winnipeg-based shop as its creative agency of record following an agency review.

MCG will help promote the annual outdoor festival’s education and outreach programs, musical training opportunities and year-round music store.

MCG was awarded the business in late December after a series of meetings, said Peter George, the agency’s president and CEO.

The agency presented an LP cover and fold-out booklet that showcased the agency’s work, and presented each employee as a "member of the band."

Incumbent Relish Design Studio Ltd. did not participate in the review, said George.

The Winnipeg Folk Festival is one of the largest of its kind in North America, said George. "We’re excited about appealing to the Festival’s enormous international clientele and bringing even more of that group to Manitoba."

Over the next several months, MCG will redevelop brochures, posters, program books, and the Festival website.

In a release, Tamara Kater, executive director of the Winnipeg Folk Festival, said MCG showed a "deep understanding" of the organization’s "diverse needs."

"We look forward to working with MCG as they put their creativity and expertise to work on our brand and help us open a new chapter in our strategic development," she said.
