Cosmetic changes and productivity enhancements have been announced for Agfa‘s :Avalon N8 series of thermal laser platesetters.

This second generation of Avalon N8 CtP systems are reported to use less power than the previous models.

"The operating costs are further reduced while the quality of the system
remains unchanged," notes Marc Op de Beeck, senior vice president at Agfa Graphics in a company release.

Op de Beeck adds that the :Avalon N8 is best suited for Agfa’s :Energy Elite plates for high run lengths without post baking, as well as the company’s :Azura TS and :Amigo plates with their stated ecological benefits.

The new platesetter range, available with various options, is said to deliver imaging speeds up to 12.5 percent faster than the previous series, dependent on plate type used. All models support plate sizes between 12 x 14.6 inches and 45.7 x 37 inches.

The systems can also take advantage of the company’s new ‘Stay in Touch’ remote user interface, offering email messaging and a graphic user interface for engine data.

The new models will be introduced in Q1, 2010.
