The latest bookletmaker from C.P. Bourg is the first to handle paper sheets up to 14-1/2 x 23-1/2 inches (the largest sheet size currently output by cutsheet digital printers).
The new Bourg BME Booklet Maker (revealed at the On Demand Expo in Philadelphia, March 31-April 2) produces up to 5,000 booklets per hour. It also features a swivel-mounted 12-inch colour touchscreen terminal, tool-less job size changeovers, the ability to fold up to 30 sheets of 20-lb bond, and exposes a totally visible straight paper path with a new paper folding mechanism designed to prevent marking, scuffing or scratching digital prints.
Operators can make fine adjustments to stitch position, fold position or trim distance in increments of 1/10 mm while the job is running.
The BME features a heavy-duty face trimmer with blower-assisted scrap removal. The trimmer also features two micro-thin blades that act like scissors, to precisely cut each paper face to within 1/256th of an inch and also sharpens both blades every time a cut is made.
The product claimed the Best of Show Award in the bindery, finishing and mailing equipment category at ON DEMAND, as selected by InfoTrends.
