R.R. Donnelley Canada hosted over 400 guests on September 15th at the official opening of its most recent Canadian acquisition, the MIL plant in Toronto, previously operated as Grafikom and before that, Quebecor World MIL (Matthews Ingham and Lake).
The assets of the MIL facility were purchased by RR Donnelley in December last year after Grafikom filed for bankruptcy protection. Donnelley also acquired equipment from Grafikom’s Western locations to enhance its established commercial printing platform in Western Canada including Benwell Atkins in Vancouver and Quality Color in Edmonton.
Among the invited guests to the MIL ribbon cutting was Toronto Mayor David Miller, pictured above (far left) along with (left to right) Allen Hallis, president of RR Donnelley Canada; Graham Matthews, co-founder of MIL; John Burke, RR Donnelley MIL plant general manager; and Rael Fisher, vice president of RR Donnelley.
According to Hallis, "The re-launch of the MIL printing facility in Toronto complements our existing manufacturing platform, enabling us to provide significant added value to our customers and other organizations that have historically been serviced by the MIL operation. We are even better positioned to provide coast-to-coast print management services and to be our customers’ first choice for comprehensive print communications."
