Activity at the highest levels of Presstek signal a renewed thrust in the sales organization for the U.S.-based manufacturer of Direct Imaging offset presses and computer-to-plate technologies. The company has named Joe Demharter (pictured), former president of the Pitman Company, to lead its Canadian and U.S. sales efforts replacing its outgoing president of the America’s region Mark Levin.
Demharter brings 38 years of experience in the graphic arts business, spending the past eight years as president of Pitman—the largest distributor of pre-press equipment and supplies in North America
This announcement falls of the heels of news that Agfa Graphics (a competitor in the computer to plate business) acquired Pitman, immediately strengthening the Belgian manufacturer’s distribution in the U.S.
“We are fortunate to have someone of Joe’s experience and capabilities join Presstek to lead our sales throughout the United States and Canada. I plan to personally work closely with Joe to bolster our sales efforts,” said Jeff Jacobson, chairman, president and CEO of Presstek, in a company release.
Mark Levin (pictured) joined Presstek in the fall of 2007, hired as president of the Americas with responsibility for managing the overall sales, service and customer relationship strategy. Levin’s previous executive experience included being president of the North American commercial group with Sun Chemical, and prior to that he spent 24 years with Heidelberg serving as senior vice president of web presses and vice president of sales for North America. Levin leaves Presstek to pursue other opportunities.
“Mark Levin is a talented, hard working and widely respected executive, and we appreciate his contributions to Presstek over the past few years,” noted Jacobson.
