The North American division of the Flint Group has introduced new eco-friendly additions to its line-up of sheetfed printing inks along with a new one-step fountain solution to ease on-press performance for printers.
The company’s new Arrowstar 8041 inks contain less than three percent volatile organic compounds (VOCs are harmful elements which can lead to unhealthy air condition)s—according to the company this is among the lowest VOC levels available in sheetfed printing inks today.
This ink series has earned a bio-renewable content (BRC) index of 70 from the National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM) and the inks are EcoLogo certified to the Printing Inks CCD-040 standard.
For use on sheetfed printing presses, these low-tack inks keep dot gain to a minimum and are suitable for perfecting presses. The inks are compliant to ISO as well as IDEAlliance’s GRACoL 7 standards.
The company’s K+E Novavit F 928 PRIME PROTECT BIO inks are another eco-offering that feature fast oxidative drying and are highly rub resistant—making these inks suitable for printers with demanding, high-end jobs that require post-print processing.
The K+E Novavit F 928 PRIME PROTECT BIO inks also earned NAPIM’s BRC index of 70 and are compliant to ISO and GRACoL 7 standards.
To complement its inks, the Flint Group also supplies on-press chemistry solutions including the new Varn Supreme 8168 fountain solution. This product is a one-step solution that works on a variety of presses, with a wide variety of plates and substrates. Built with ink-compatible solvents, Varn Supreme 8168 fountain solution is compatible with conventional, hybrid and UV inks. The fountain solution enables easier ink/water balance with reverse osmosis treated or tap water; and according to Flint the fountain solutions offers on-press stability without the need for high dosages, alcohol substitutes or IPA. Faster ink/water balance leads to faster start up and less wasted sheets.
