In partnership with climate protection consultant ClimatePartner, German printing press manufacturer KBA (Koenig & Bauer AG) has introduced an online program that will allow printers to calculate their carbon footprint and determine the steps required to make their print jobs carbon neutral.

At the KBA-branded website print shops can register and use the online tools to calculate the CO2 emitted in their production runs. As the press maker points out, “knowing a printing shop’s carbon footprint is the starting point for making improvements in environmental protection.”

Using the “Footprint Manager” at a cost of 100 Euro per month, print shops can position themselves as climate conscious partners. And by being able to calculate the emissions from a particular job a print service provider can share the data with customers and present them with the opportunity to neutralize those emissions by participating in certified climate protection projects at a surcharge

The new service is being launched in English and German and is active in Europe and North America.
