Following weeks of speculation, Unisource Canada has finally announced that it has reached a purchase agreement to acquire Mondrian-Hall Inc., a Canadian supplier of equipment, consumables and services to the architectural/technical design, display graphics and photo market.
Mondrian Hall was granted creditor protection on July 8, 2009, in part to facilitate a court-approved sale of the struggling business. At that time Unisource Canada had submitted a bid for the business and was accepted by the court as the lead purchaser “Stalking Horse”. The transaction is open to other bidders and an auction will occur before the deal will be finalized.
Unisource has had a presence in the digital wide format market for years with various suppliers, distributing media and some hardware through its 18 locations across the country.
The addition of Mondrian-Hall, which operates 10 sales and distribution centres in Canada located in the same areas as Unisource, will greatly enhance the group’s expertise, product offering and customer base in the display graphics market.
According to the official Unisource announcement: "Working together we will be able to increase our competitive edge, drive profitable growth, enhance our service platform, strengthen our supplier base and offer greater operational efficiencies."
